Over 80 groups involved in multicultural activities, international exchange and cooperation will gather to celebrate the Sendai World Festa at the Sendai International Center. This is your chance to learn about many different cultures and show your appreciation for the support we received from around the world after the Great East Japan Earthquake. The theme for 2011 is “From Sendai with LOVE” in regards to thanking and expressing our sincere appreciation to our friends from within Japan and outside of Japan that helped us after the earthquake and tsunami in March.

Hey Everyone, its Chikki again!
I would just like to thank everyone for supporting this year’s Sendai World Festa❤
I am also really happy that I was able to meet lots of friends again this year!
This year's theme was "From Sendai with Love."
There was a special program this year, in line with our theme, to really say "Thank you" and I think we acheived this.
Everyone sang together, danced together, and that's right.. we got so many thank you messages☆
Having people write their feelings was so amazing. It really cheered me up!
Were we able to pass on our gratitude to friends around the world I wonder?
That we've been so happy because of them?
We certainly did (^u^)v
Once again I would like to thank everyone for cooperating.
It was soooooooooooooo much fun☆
Ok, I'm about to take a nap~ zzzz

At the start of the meeting!
Hey everyone, Chiki here.
I can’t believe that we’re already at the end of August!
At least in September it’ll be a little bit cooler….
Anyway, getting on with things, last week Saturday and Monday, the 27th and the 29th respectively, we had the explanation meeting for the Sendai World Festa and it's up to me to tell you about it!
So here I go...
We’ll have lots of different booths at the Festa, and we’ll have people helping out with the booths, the stage, and others taking pictures and videos etc.
The Festa is going to be a really big event and so we’ve got all the volunteer help we can in order to pull it off smoothly.
So that all the first timers can relax and get to know more about the event, every year before the Festa, SIRA holds this explanation meeting.
Volunteers work together closely, and we’ve got both Japanese volunteers and ones from foreign countries.
I love to see people working together. ( ^.^)
Everyone listening so closely!
The 27th was the first meeting so we had tons of people show up. About 100 people, no, maybe more than that! I’m really excited; hope I can get along with everyone.
First we had some opening words from the volunteer manager Kawaai-san..
Everyone taking a look at where we are in preparation at the moment
After that, we watched a video of last year.
Ah! It’s me!
Everyone watched closely! This year we’re gonna make the Festa even better!
The stage team leader with the volunteers.
In the second half of the meeting, everyone broke up into teams.
After they all gave a little self introduction, the leaders doled out their responsibilities.
All the teams were focused while still managing to have fun.
All the leaders explained what their jobs were, cool no?
The meeting went on for about 2 hours!
I think everyone wanted to talk a little more, but we had to close up.
Then Kawaai-san talked about how the next time we will see each other is at the Sendai World Festa Exchange Party.
Exchange party! Man that sounds fun.
Everyone one took a bento and drink and then we adjourned.
I wonder what I should take to the exchange party! Excited!
Till next time!

Hello, it’s Chiki.
It’s been a while, so I’ll let you all know what I’ve been up to~.
SIRA has been really, really busy lately!
The World Festa is in one month, and the office is bustling all around me~.
It’s looking like soon the programs for the day of the festival will be finished.
Lots of organizations will be there, along with stage performances, international cuisine, photo exhibitions, workshops…
At the festival, I want to see eeeeeverything. But, for now, I’ve got to think of somewhere to go~.
Ah, that’s right, tonight it will be cool out, so I’ll go to the Koryu Corner.
I can read magazines and books at my leisure. I really like the Koryu Corner in the evenings because it’s quiet~.
At the Koryu Corner, I can meet with Mr. Bointo who’s from Inner Mongolia!
I’ll read with Mr. Bointo on the sofa for a little….. Hmm, hmm, I see.
Huh? Mr. Bointo, aren’t you in the middle of work?
Mr. Bointo went back to his work… And I accidentally fell asleep while reading!
This sofa is so comfortable~.
I see, I see~.
Reading is great!
That’s right, this year’s pamphlets for the festival are finished, and if you fold them up, they become--!!
Letters~~~!!
Please give them to your friends, family, and others!
Ah, I’ve found SIRA staff member, Mr. Watanabe!
I’ll give Mr. Watanabe a pamphlet.
In this way, please tell lots of people about the festival, okay~.
(Ah, but, Mr. Watanabe already knows about the festival~ Haha.)
See you again ~

Hey everybody, do you remember me?
I’m Chiki!! The mascot for the Sendai World Festa!!
This year’s World Festa is coming up! I’m so excited, I can’t wait!!
Our theme this year is:
“From Sendai with LOVE”
We chose this as our theme because we wanted to show our appreciation to all of those around the world who supported us after the Tohoku earthquake of 3/11 and who continue to show their support.
We want to thank the many people who sent food and other necessities, those who sent kind messages, paper cranes, or poems, and those who assisted in the cleanup of houses and buildings in the affected areas.
So many people helped in so many different ways, and still are, in Japan and all over the world!
We want this year’s festival to say, “Thank you!” to everyone, our friends.
And we want to say, “We are now hard at work rebuilding a better future!”
Let’s say it together, let’s all participate in “Project Thank You!!”
